The Working Warrior Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization founded by a veteran of the United States Marine Corps to help veterans and their families. One of our goals is to combat veteran unemployment through our Warriors to Work Program. 69% of Post - 9/11 veterans say finding a job is their toughest challenge. Pennsylvania has the 4th largest concentration of veterans in the United States. Southwestern PA has over 235,000 veterans of which 99,000 live in Allegheny County. Taking into consideration that each of these veterans support on average two and a half dependents they face enormous pressure to find employment and feed their families. Unfortunately 1 in 4 of veterans self-identify as being food insecure, understanding veterans are prideful this number is most likely higher. We help veterans and their families obtain food security through our Veterans Feeding Veterans and Warrior Food Pantry programs. These programs rescue rejected food to create delicious meals to feed our veteran community. One of our corresponding training programs, the Warrior Kitchen trains veterans for employment in the culinary industry. Together our Veterans Feeding Veterans, Warrior Pantry and Warrior Kitchen take veterans that our society undervalues puts them together with food our society wastes and trains those veterans for jobs while providing beautiful and healthy meals.

Veterans Feeding Veterans and Warrior Pantry
Our Veterans Feeding Veterans Program and Warrior Pantry address food insecurity among veterans and their families. 1 in 4 veterans self identify as food insecure.
